Skype CallThru: Using your Skype Plan (Unlimited or Pro) Remotely

Skype CallThru: Using your Skype Plan (Unlimited or Pro) Remotely to make calls from CellPhones and Landlines

1. In order for this to work, you must have first been successful going through this guide Sip2Skype: Receiving SIP Calls in Skype

2. Make sure that following the original Sip2Skype guide mentioned above you can  receive calls to your Skype client using your own DID number or a SipBroker Access Number, before proceeding further....

3. You should also be noticing that when you receive Skype calls this way, it appears the calls come from user xoztralia3 or net2max3 (if the calls are coming from a different username, please make sure to note it).

4. Now download the PontiVoce Server Software from (Pontivoce3 Software), but don't install it just yet

5. To make it work you'll need a license. The license will be linked to the SkypeUsername which will be used with the software. You'll need to purchase the license for $5.95 from Televoce

Disclaimer:

-Since some money is involved, please read through this guide and make sure you understand what you'll need to be doing.

-Please also make sure you've already completed the previous guide (Sip2Skype: Receiving SIP Calls in Skype)  and can indeed receive calls to your Skype via a DID number or SipBroker using Net2Max

-Keep in mind that receiving calls in Skype via Sip and Using Skype Remotely without purchasing a SkypeIn number from Skype depends on reliability and availability of the Net2Max gateway. There is no guarantee that the above gateway will always be up. That said, from personal experience it has had a 90% uptime rate so far.

-Please understand that in order to use Skype remotely, provided you've completed the previous guide and purchased the PontiVoce license, the computer running Skype and your PontiVoce server will need to be up and running connected to the internet.

-PontiVoce, Net2Max, SipBroker and any other services involved provide no official support for this method

-The author of the guide (that's me) also provides no guarantees that this will work for you so try at own risk.

6. Once you have your PontiVoce license file, install the PontiVoce server

7. Once installed setup as follows (don't worry about the Permit Client Callers for now):

-Notice there is a space between xoztralia3 and net2max3

-Make sure to select CallThrough

-You may want to allow only Country Code 1 (US/Canada) for safety reasons especially if you expect to have a few people use this gateway and you don't want them calling anywhere else except the Free Locations

8. Make sure both Skype and the PontiVoce server are running. Now Call In via a DID number or SipBroker as discussed in the SIP2Skype guide, you'll hear a music tone (this indicates the gateway is ready)

Calling a Number

-Dial the number you want to reach like 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx (always CountryCode-Number format)

-Press # when finished, and wait

-When the number is about to be connected you'll hear a "Please Hold for the other party" message

Conference Call

-Dial the numbers you want to reach like 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx*1-xxx-xxx-xxxx and so on, pressing # when finished

-Skype will set up a conference call with those users

-PontiVoce supports up to 10 users per conference call, but your computer's capabilities may limit this further

Other Skype Users

-To call other Skype Users you must have assigned them a 2 digit Speed Dial number on Skype first

-Then you simply dial the 2 digit Speed Dial followed by # after the welcome tone

-You can combine actual numbers and Skype Speed Dial numbers on a Conference call separating them by * and pressing # at the end of the whole string

You can take a look at PontiVoce's PDF instructions here:  http://scopezoom.com/PontiVoce3_Guide.pdf

For the latest updated info on the PontiVoce software see Televoce

Note: This guide only uses the CallThru feature of the PontiVoce server..... If you have a SkypeIn number from Skype you can also use the CallBack feature

Also you can allow other family and friends to place calls via your Skype Account using their own clients. You'll need to authorize them from the PontiVoce server 'Permit Cient Callers Tab' and have them download the free PontiVoce Client (Pontivoceclientsetup)

Remember whichever method you are using, your computer must be on and connected running Skype and the PontiVoce server.

Sip2Skype: Receiving SIP Calls in Skype

Sip2Skype: Receiving SIP Calls in Skype

Update: Things seem to be working once again....

This guide allows you to deliver Sip Calls directly to your Skype.

Of course it also means you can have a Sip DID number ring Skype. Like everything Free, don't expect 100% reliability and be prepared for some 'starting pains and headaches'.

Keep in mind that the middleman making this possible Net2Max.com can only provide so many channels, so "Please don't abuse it, or We'll all lose it"

It also creates the opportunity to use your SkypeUnlimited or SkypePro plan remotely by using something like the PontiVoce software. There'll be a separate guide to go through the steps for that setup as well.

1.Go to www.Net2Max.com

2. Click the Register link which will send you to this page http://en.net2max.com/One_Click_Contact_Instant_Join

3. That page explains what you need to do to register, but just in case here is a quick summary:

-Call one of their Access Numbers http://en.net2max.com/Access_Number_List (I called 1-800-510-0378)

-Select 1 for English

-Then enter 1# to start the registration process

-You'll need to ensure your Phone is sending Caller ID (note: I had trouble getting it to recognize the number on my Fido CellPhone, but landline seems to work fine, keep in mind it's not that important what number you use).

-It'll read back your number and will ask you to confirm (make sure you note down the way it recognized your number, it'll usually add the country code in front)

-Then it'll read your password, so be ready to note it down

-Follow the instructions to the end and you'll have your login and password

4. With your Phone Number as the login ID and the password from above go to login  https://www.net2max.com/login

5. The first time you login, you'll need to fill out some general info about yourself

6. We start when you hit this page:

7. Click on Security, Central Security and then External Security

8. In the page that opens up, select Courtesy Call Option and then Disable it...

9.Now close the page that popped up and click on the Voice tab

10. Click on Access Number, and make sure calls are sent to Web PABX (note your Verified Number as well):

11. Now close the page that popped up, click on WebDialer, and on the page that opens make sure you set the following:

Setting 1:

Setting 2:

Setting 3:  Here is the important part.... I chose 2023, you can chose another number if you want  but keep it something short (no one else will see this). The forward to number is 899099YourSkypeUsername

Setting 4:

Don't worry about the rest of the stuff for now....

12. Now once more close the pop up page, and go to Web PABX, there choose Voice Greeting. On the page that opens find this section:

13. In the Section above type a sequence name (like MySkype) and click Add Sequence. Once added the sequence will appear on top just like 'admin' and 'public' in the figure above.

14. Click on the sequence you just added and you should see this:

15. You will need to click on Edit and make the following changes:

-2023: this is the number you assigned to skype before (if you chose a different number, please enter that number here)

-50: how many seconds to ring before stopping (theoretically you can have it ring for so long then send it somewhere else, but there were some problems with this when I tried....I would suggest setting ring timeout to 50-60 sec or less for now)

16.  Save when done

17. Now you'll need to edit the section at the top of the page, so the table looks like this:

18. Now all calls to your Net2Max 1CC number should ring Skype, get ready for the first try. Make sure your Skype is running.

-Call one of the local SipBroker Access Numbers ( http://www.sipbroker.com/sipbroker/action/pstnNumbers )

-When prompted enter *7749-Your1CCNumber (your 1CCnumber is the same as the number you used to login, your PhoneNumber)

-If everything goes well you should receive a Skype Call

-Keep in mind that it may not work right away. It may take a few hours to a full day to setup properly. Depending  on the time during which you are trying, there may be enough people using it such that all the channels are tied up, so don't expect 100% reliability.

19.

If it worked, it means  all calls directed to *7749Your1CCNumber@sipbroker.com or Your1CCNumber@sip.syd.net2max.com will ring your Skype.

Now all you have to do to assign a SkypeIn number is forward any DID number you have to that URI... (Services like MySipSwitch.com, PBXes.com or VoXalot.com can help you forward to a SIP URI if your current provider does not offer this feature)

You may also just want to use the SipBroker access numbers to be reached, in that case if giving people *7749-Your1CCNumber  as an extension sounds too long, simply sign up for SipBroker to create an alias (use Your1CCNumber@sip.syd.net2max.com as the address with which to sign up).

Receiving Calls on your Landline/Cellphone from Around the World

Before getting started, as a summary, we'll sign up for:

VoXalot

PhoneGnome

MySipSwitch.

TPad (Optionally)

Also if you have any providers that give you a DID number, or give you access numbers that can be used to reach you (eg. TPad), have the following info handy for each of those providers:

Username

Password

Server/Proxy

Port

What will this achieve?

People in different Countries will be able to dial a number local to them, then an extension, and call you on your phone. Also people will be able to call you via SIP URI from VoIP applications.

I have tried to make this as detailed as possible, if there are problems feel free to get in touch.

Now let's get started!!!

Sign Up for VoXalot

1. Sign Up for an account with VoXalot (free VoxBasic account, and pick a 6 digit number you like that's not used for any other purposes).

2. Log In at VoXalot

3. Under VoiceMail ensure it is off (for now):

Sign Up at PhoneGnome

1. Go to www.PhoneGnome.com

2. Sign Up for an account:

3. The Countries with which it will work are these:

US/Canada

4. If you get the following screens , you need to find a PROXY in the country for which you are registering a number:

5. See here for a PROXY:  http://www.samair.ru/proxy/type-01.htm

6. Assuming you got through all that, PhoneGnome will sent you an email with a link. Click on the link and follow the instructions to complete the verification (they'll call you and you have to enter a pin code).

7. Now Log In at PhoneGnome

8.On the HomePage make note of the following (copied exactly):

9.Under Features Activate SoftGnome Remote Access:

10. Now Click on Edit and set things as follows:

11. Now Click on View Sip Credentials (you'll need this info so save it somewhere, along with the stuff from the HomePage):

12. Now Click on Call Analysis then Placed Calls, and keep this page open, you may need it later:

MySipSwitch

1.  Go to www.MySipSwitch.com and create an account

2. Click on Add New and specify your PhoneGnome account details as follows:

Provider Name: Anything you want, but be careful as you'll need to adjust step 4 to match if you choose different from the example.

Username: Your PhoneGnome Username

Password: Your PhoneGnome Password

3. Let's set up your Dial Plan for forwarding:

Note: There are some default dial plans here. Erase them before starting.

Enter this:

exten = fwd1.user,1,SwitchCall(**466@PhoneGnome)

fwd1: I chose this arbitrarily, you can enter call1,or anything you wish, but try to keep it short

user: this is your MySipSwitch username

**466: It stands for **HOM, and triggers a call to the phone number associated with your PG acct.

If  instead you want calls to ring to another PhoneGnome registered number (not the one associated with the account) replace **466 with the number that you want called (enter it in Country Code-Number format, eg. 14162223333 or 442022223333)

PhoneGnome: Notice that the name here, PhoneGnome is the same as the Provider Name you chose in step 3

4. Now let's point your VoXalot account so that it dials this number:

Click Add New to add another provider, and setup as follows:

123456: replace with your VoXalot number

Contact: sip:fwd1.user@sip.mysipswitch.com

As I mentioned above fwd1 is something I picked. If you used something else in the Dial Plan setup above, use it here as well.

User is your MySipSwitch username

5. Check that the Registration went through smoothly by clicking the Monitoring button at the top of the page:

If you have a green dot next to your VoXalot Registration you are good to go

Note: Some people have had trouble viewing the monitoring page with Firefox, there is a bug that MySipSwitch should be fixing soon.

6. Try a Call:

-Call a SipBroker Access Number local to you: http://www.sipbroker.com/sipbroker/action/pstnNumbers

-When prompted enter *010123456 (replace 123456 with your VoXalot number here)

-Your Phone should ring

-Now anybody can call a number local to them from SipBroker, then your extension*010123456 and they'll be talking to you

Take it Further: TPad Account (Optional)

1. Sign up for a free TPad account

2. Complete the activation Process (They will ask you to enter a CELL/Landline where they can call you, and you enter a code. Make sure you do not check that this number be used to forward all your calls)

3. If everything goes well, when you sign in at TPad you should see this (the red arrows indicate the important settings):

4. If everything is fine here, make a note of your TPad number and remember your password

Set up TPad at MySipSwitch (Optional)

1. Use the same MySipSwitch account as before

2. Take the same steps as you did to add VoXalot to MySipSwitch

3. Set up like this:

4. By clicking on Monitoring at the top of the Page you'll see when the registration has gone through.

Note: TPad had some issues registering with MySipSwitch for a few months, but things seem to be working now

5. Try a Call:

Call TPad Access Number then enter Your TPad Number

Adding more DID numbers or Access numbers (Optional)

1. Follow the same steps as you did for VoXalot or TPad.

2. The only thing that is the same in each case is the contact field  ( fwd1.user@sip.mysipswitch.com )

Repeating the Steps for  setting up Multiple Phones (Optional)

1. You can use the same MySipSwitch account

2. You'll need to register each phone for PhoneGnome

3. Just create a a new provider entry, PhoneGnome2, and a dial plan and contact field using fwd2, for example:

exten = fwd2.user,1,SwitchCall(**466@PhoneGnome2)

and

fwd2.user@sip.mysipswitch.com

At this Point:

People can reach you:

SipBroker Access Numbers then *010123456 (where 123456 is your VoXalot number)

or

TPad Access Number then Your TPad Number

or

SIP URI to reach your phone: *010123456@sipbroker.com

All forms will ring your Cell/Landline

Now your are reachable on Your Cell/Landline from around the world via local numbers from either SipBorker or TPad, and just about any Voip Network that allows SIP URI Dialing.

Next step, Placing Calls on the VoIP Network(s) using regular PSTN phones (see Guide 6)

Comments/Questions/Feedback/Anything Else: http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=454642

Placing VoIP Calls from any Old Regular PSTN Phone (VoIP CallThru

Placing VoIP Calls from any Old Regular PSTN Phone (VoIP CallThru)

Before getting started, we'll do the following:

-Set Up a VoXBasic Account (preferrably a new one, not one you are planning on using for something else)

-Set UP at PBXes.com (if you already have an account there, there is no need for another one)

-Set UP Various VoIP Providers (VSPs) you may have for CallThru

-Increase CallThru local Numbers by adding TPad to the Mix

-Set up at MySipSwitch (if you already have an account, that'll work, no need for a new one)

What are we achieving:

You can make calls using VoIP from your regular phone. It's like you create a Calling Card of your own with local access numbers around the world.

Sign UP at VoXalot

1. Sign Up for an account with VoXalot (free VoxBasic account, and pick a 6 digit number you can remember, make a new account that's not used for something else).

2. Log In at VoXalot

3. Under VoiceMail ensure it is off :

Set UP at PBXes.com

1. Go to www.PBXes.com and sign up for their free account (if you already have one, use that).

2. We start when you hit this page:

3. Under Trunks set up a SIP Trunk. Where I have used us.voxalot.com, you can replace with eu.voxalot.com, or au.voxalot.com, this has to match the setting in your VoXalot account, so make sure what you put in here and what is at your VoXalot  HomePage match (by default it is us.voxalot.com though):

4. Under Inbound Routing set up a new Route. If you did not Name the Trunk above VoXCallThru, the enter the name as you chose it in here too. Also, you can set up a PIN, but if you don't want to, simply select it but leave it empty.

5. Under Trunks, add a SIP Trunk for each the providers you are planning on using:

Some Examples:

VBuzzer:

VoiceStick

InternetCalls (BetaMax)

Acanac

VoXalot

Just like the examples above, if you have a VoXalot account where you already have dialing plans configured with multiple providers (not the one we just setup for this guide), but want to be able to have access to it through PSTN, add as a Trunk in here...

(If you have audio issues, turn audio bypass to No)

6. Create an OutBound Route (under Outbound routing )for each provider you plan on using.

Here are some examples:

All calls that start with 9 are handled by VBuzzer in this case.

Eg. entering 914163332255 would dial 14163332255 using VBuzzer.

The route name is not important, the Trunk Sequence at the bottom is.

All calls that start with 8 will be routed by InternetCalls in this Case.

So entering 814163332255 would send 14163332255 to InternetCalls trunk, which from the example I showed above for Trunks would add 00, so it would dial 00-1-4163332255 using InternetCalls (this is the format required by InternetCalls when dialing).

From the examples above you'll see I prefer to add a prefix that serves to pick the right Call Route and is then taken away.

If however you set the dial plan as 1X., then all numbers entered starting with 1 would be dialed via that route just as they were entered.

If the Dial pattern was 1XXX. it means a number starting with one, and having at least 3 or more digits after the 1 would be dialed via that route.

If you are gonna use an existing VoXalot account where dial plans are already configured in VoXalot, put the dial plan as X. so that everything is just sent straight to VoXalot and dealt with there.

If you hover over where it reads Dial Patterns it explains the possibilities of how to set Dial Patterns further.

At this Point:

Dial SipBroker Access Number then *010123456 (where 123456 is your VoXalot number, the new account you made above), then enter your PIN when it asks for it (1234# in this example). You'll then get a dial tone, an open line. Start entering the number you want to call, remember to enter the correct prefix/format as you chose in the dial patterns above.

When you are done entering wait a bit or press # to tell the system you are done, it should ring and you'll be talking soon, the call handled by your VoIP provider, at the VSP's rate. If you make a mistake at any time when dialing press *, and you get the dial-tone and start dialing from the beginning.

Optional Part

More Local Numbers: TPad Account

1. Sign up for a free TPad account (you need a TPad account that you are not using for something else)

Sign Up at www.MySipSwitch.com

1. The Sign Up process is straight forward (don't need a new acocunt id you have one already)

2. When logged in, at the bottom of the Configuration page you'll see Registrations and Add New, click on Add New

3. Set up like this (replace 123621 with your VoXalot number from above of course), and then click Add:

4. By clicking on Monitoring at the top of the Page you'll see when the registration has gone through.

Optional-Instead of Using MySipSwitch as above, you could also do this-

1. Under Trunks, add a new SIP Trunk (I'll be adding TPad)

2. Under Inbound Routing add this (for TPad in this case):

3. That is all:

Other Providers

If you have another provider that gives you access numbers, or a DID number that you want to use for this, follow the TPad example replacing TPad info with the provider's info (using either MySipSwitch, or PBXes itself)

At this Point:

From Any Regular Phone:

Call SipBroker Access Number then *010123456 (123456 replaced with your VoXalot number)

or

Call TPad Access Number then TPad Number (7 digits)

If you chose a PIN, you'll be asked to enter it with # at the end, then you'll get a dial tone, an open line, now simply enter the number in the correct format so that it matches with the DIAL Patterns you created.

This is like a Calling Card now with local access Numbers around the world (see both SipBroker and TPad for all the numbers)

Limitation: The free account at PBXes has a 5000 minute limit per month, and can also be suspended without notice if they think you are abusing their system, so be fair. Unfortunately free accounts do not have a counter measuring minutes used up to a certain point either.

Costs:

Cost to call a number local to you from your phone

and

Per minute cost that your Voip Provider charges you to various destinations

7. Under Extensions, set up a Classical extension (pick an extension number as you wish), and enter your number (the one you registered for PhoneGnome, and where you want to receive calls) in the format 998-CountryCode-Number

8. Under Inbound Routing set up such that all calls to VoXalot-1st (if you named the Trunk for your 1st VoXalot account something else, then use that name) are routed to the extension you set up:

9. Under Outbound Routing, set up such that all calls placed with a 998 prefix are handled by VoXalot-2nd, which in turn sends them through PhoneGnome:

10. Ensure to save all this

At this point:

Calling a SipBroker Access Number then entering *010123621 (or in your own case *010xxxxxx where xxxxxx is your 6 digit VoXalot-1st number) should ring your Cell/Landline that you set up with PhoneGnome.

After dialing the extension there should be a 15 sec delay, then you should hear ringing, and soon your phone will ring. This means that people can call you by calling a SipBroker Access Number that is local to them from around the World.

Sign Up at www.MySipSwitch.com (Optional)

1. The Sign Up process is straight forward

2. When logged in, at the bottom of the Configuration page you'll see Registrations and Add New, click on Add New

3. Set up like this (replace 123621 with your VoXalot-1st number of course), and then click Add:

4. By clicking on Monitoring at the top of the Page you'll see when the registration has gone through.

Alternative: Instead of MySipSwitch you could do this

1. Add the alternate provider (TPad in this case) as a SIP Trunk in PBXes (After you are done with these steps try to see if setting Audio Bypass  below to yes still gives you good audio when calling in from TPad, if it works it's great, but leaving it to No is the safe bet)

2. Under Inbound Routing, point the alternate provider (TPad in this case) to the same classical extension you pointed VoXalot-1st. The name under trunk here, has to match the name you gave to the trunk above:

At this Point:

People can reach you:

SipBroker Access Numbers then *010123456 (where 123456 is your VoXlaot-1st number)

or

TPad Access Number then Your TPad Number

Both forms will ring your Cell/Landline

Even Further: Do you have any Providers that give you free DID Numbers

1. If  you have a DID from another provider either forward it to 123621@voxalot.com (well actually YourVoXalotNumber@voxalot.com)

2. Or use MySipSwitch (use the alternative with PBXes if MySipSwitch doesn't work for you, personally I would give first preference to MySipSwitch pointed to VoXalot, rather than PBXes) entering Username, Password, Server, and filling out the contact field with YourVoXalotNumber@voxalot.com just like we did for TPad

3. Once the registration is complete in MySipSwitch dialing the DID number will reach your Cell/Landline

4. So from the Free Ones, IPKall, FreeDigits you could get at least two different numbers, on two different states to ring the same Cell/Landline

Now your are reachable on Your Cell/Landline from around the world via local numbers from either SipBorker or TPad, and just about any Voip Network that allows SIP URI Dialing.

Next step, Placing Calls on the VoIP Network(s) using regular PSTN phones (see the next Guide)
