How to use MagicJack Remotely
Part 1: Setting up at MySipSwitch
1. Create an account at www.MySipSwitch.com (note: create a new account for now, even if you already have one)
2. When logged in at MySipSwitch, click ADD NEW (marked with red arrow)
3. The setup form will load as above. Enter the necessary MJ details.
4. Under 'Registration Contact' replace username with your actual MySipSwitch user name.
5. Click Update
6. Now click on the Monitoring Tab, you should see something likes this:
7. Now go back to the configuration by clicking the 'Configuration' Tab
8. Under the dial plan field enter the following: It is: exten => _X.,1,Switch(MJ)
Don't forget to click 'Update'
Note, that I put MJ in the brackets, because that's how I named the provider. If you entered a different name in the previous step, your should enter that in the brackets instead.
9. At this point if you are using your MJ with an ATA, it is a good idea to register the ATA with MySipSwitch directly User: Your MySipSwitch Username Pass: Your Password Server: sip.mysipswitch.com Port: 5060
10. Again if you are using an ATA, after finishing with step 9, you want to make sure you can make calls and receive calls through MJ, via MySipSwitch.
Part 2: Sign UP at VoXalot
1. Sign Up for an account with VoXalot (free VoxBasic account, and pick a 6 digit number you can remember, make a new account that's not used for something else).
2. Log In at VoXalot
3. Under VoiceMail ensure it is off :
Part 3: Setting up at PBXes
1. Go to www.PBXes.com and sign up for their free account (if you already have one, use that, do not create multiple accounts, or you risk having them all vlocked).
2. We start when you hit this page:
3. Click on Trunks, Add Sip Trunk and enter the following details based on your MySipSwitch acct.: (the SIP server is sip.mysipswitch.com)
4. Submit changes and remember to confirm by clicking the red bar that will come up
5. Back to Trunks, Add Sip Trunk, set up a second Trunk based on the VoXalot acct you set up: 6. Again Submit changes and remember to confirm by clicking the red bar that will come up
7. Now go under Inbound Routing, and Add Incoming Route as follows (notice VoXThru matches the name of the trunk we set above, so if you gave it another name, use that name here):
8. Again Submit changes and remember to confirm by clicking the red bar that will come up
9. Now click on Outbound Routing so we can set up a new outbound route:
10. As usual Submit & Confirm
Part 4: Using it remotely
1. Pick a local access number here http://www.sipbroker.com/sipbroker/action/pstnNumbers
2. When prompted enter *010-123456 (replace 123456 with the actual VoXalot number from above)
3. If everything goes well you should receive a dialtone
4. Simply dial the number you wish to call (enter # when finished) (Please keep in mind you cannot use * when dialing since it has a special function at PBXes, it allows you to start dialing over if you make a mistake)
5. Keep in mind this CallThru will be limited to 1000 min/month due to PBXes usage limitations
6. Test for a few days to see that things are working well. At that point for those of you with My5 Plans, may want to consider adding the SipBroker access number to your My5
